REQ: Isotonik Modular Series – FOLLOW, SMART, LOOPER, ISOTONIK FX

UPDATE: We’ve released the first of our planned updates for Live 10. Follow SCENE & SMART FIVE are now fully compatible with even tighter integration with the Ableton Push.

The Modular Series offers a wide range of Max4Live devices that can be utilised with any Midi Controller in conjunction with Ableton Live. Each device uses Max4Live to offer a solution to a common Ableton feature requests and we have been known to update and add to the devices in the series…

MODULAR SERIES – FOLLOW – Automatic Follow Actions for Clips and Scenes in Session View… AND NOW WITH FOLLOW ARRANGE!

One of the most requested features of Ableton is the ability to set follow actions that occur at a clip end rather than a predetermined time.

With our Follow device you can not only acheive the standard follow actions at clip end, but you can also trigger them at clip stop, define the clip number to be played next or even switch the Clip follow action to become a Scene follow action.

There’s also an additional five alternative next Clips or Scenes per clip, designed primarily for use by a band this feature allows you to define for each playing clip options that can be triggered next at the end of the current clip…

If you prefer to lay out your performance in Arrange View though, our new Follow ARRANGE Device reads the current playheads position and gives you jump points based on the locators in your set. It also automatically orientates the Arrange Loop Brace so with the press of a button you can loop around the currently playing section until you’re ready to continue! Due to a limitation with Ableton Live’s API only the first 128 Locators are available.

MODULAR SERIES – SMART – Control 8 Parameters with one Smart Dial…

Smart can be thought of as a super charged rack allowing you to plot the path of any parameter within Ableton to a Smart graph and link it to one Master Smart Dial.

Using Max4Live up to eight parameters can be mapped so as the master dial turns different parameters can be modulated at different rates.

The display on the device shows the correct values for mapped parameters for ease of setting up and displays correctly on the Ableton Push screen

MODULAR SERIES – LOOPER – On the Fly Looping…

High up on the most requested features list is on the fly looping, the move from Serato and Traktor was a big jump for us and we missed some of things we took for granted.

Drop a Looper device on every track you want and it allows you to control the track’s currently playing clips looping properties via MIDI. You can set pre-determined length loops, move them, halve or double them, all without having to focus on the playing clip first.

MODULAR SERIES – ISOTONIK FX

The final MaforLive device of the pack is an Audio FX device, Isotonik FX was born out of frustration with Beat Repeat. It works on buffered audio and slices the incoming audio into 1/8ths which can then be retrogressed via MIDI whilst the original audio continues playing, much like the Slip mode on CDJ’s. You can set how long the repeat cycle is for the slices to bring some glitchy stuttering that always remains on beat and on time.
We’ve added in some other effects popularised in our Performance templates like DJ Brake and Turntable Wind Down along with High and Low Pass filters. All in all this is a one device arsenal of DJ style Effects!
