REQ: Synapse Audio DUNE v1.4 VST/AU (OSX) screenshot
Been trying to revive my old projects but my ancient version of Dune AU (v1.3) will not show up in the 64-bit DAW. I tested the current Dune trial from the official site and it shows up just fine, so I suspect that v1.4 (or 1.42 as the current one is) should be compatible, as the demo supposedly is a demo of the most recent version available. Sorry that I can't 100% confirm the bit depth because the Mac trial download doesn't mention it, only the Win VST does.
Searching from here, I only managed to find VST/Windows versions, the AU remaining unexpectedly elusive. My currently primary DAW only supports AU so that's top priority, but if the OSX VST version is equally available (e.g part of the same installer), I now know better to cherish all formats in case I end up DAW-surfing in the future!
Thank you very much in advance if you can revive the ol' good jams!

INFO:
DUNE is a subtractive/virtual-analog type synthesizer which introduces new, innovative features.
The differential unison engine (DUNE) takes the concept of subtractive synthesis to the next level, by allowing full control of each unison voice. This greatly extends the range of possible sounds, reaching deep into FM and Wavetable synthesis.
Whether you're looking for lush pads, fat basses, punchy kicks, cutting leads, multi-layered pads and textures, complex FX sounds or morphing - anything is possible in Dune.
Some key features include:
• The differential unison engine ('Dune'), giving extensive modulation abilities.
• A strong synthesis core housing alias-free oscillators and warm, analog-sounding filters.
• An innovative arpeggiator, with a creative mode that facilitates composing new melodies.
• Vast range of possible sounds, not only covering analog type sounds, but also FM, Wavetable synthesis and completely new realms.
• A high-quality effect unit including Reverb, EQs, Delay, Phaser, Flanger and Chorus.
• Two factory banks filled with patches made by experienced sound designers.
• Integrated patch browser and patch categories like Bass, Lead, Pads etc. for fast searching.

Technical Specifications:
• 2 Oscillators with Osc Sync, Pulse Width, Ring- and Frequency Modulation.
• Sub Oscillator.
• FAT knob for both oscillators, each generating 7 detuned oscillators.
• Oscillator waveforms comprise Sawtooth, Pulse, Triangle and a wavetable.
• The wavetable contains 69 additional waveforms which can be modulated to obtain Wavetable Synthesis type patches.
• 3 FM Modes including FilterFM.
• Noise generator with brightness control.
• Multimode Filter with Lowpass, Bandpass, Bandstop, Highpass and combo types.
• 3 LFOs with Sawtooth, Pulse, Triangle and S+H Noise.
• 3 ADSR envelopes with additional parameters in the modulation matrix.
• Arpeggiator with 7 different modes, including the new creative mode "Dynamic", which adapts sequences according to how many/which keys are being pressed.
• Mono-Legato Mode with Glide.
• Complex modulation matrix, which can not only modulate the front panel knobs but includes many additional parameters for experts; additionally the ability to modulate MM Slots by other MM slots.
• Host Tempo Sync for the Arpeggiator, all LFOs and the Delay Unit.
• Up to 8 unison voices, which can be further controlled by the mod matrix.
• Comprehensive, high-quality effect section with Distortion, two EQs, Phaser, Flanger, Chorus, Delay and Reverb.
• All patches can be sorted and browsed by categories (Bass, Leads, Pads etc.).

Okay I tested that. The v1.3 (either 1.3 or 1.3x, can't remember because I can't get it to show up) that I have has a date of January 2011. I tested this peeplink one (date being later 2011), I can confirm that it's 1.35, the info is in the supplied info document as well as in the plug-in UI itself. I was expecting separate 32-bit and 64-bit files but apparently the combined installation means that they're literally embedded in one and the same .component/.vst file, which is wonderful.
This version loads so I get to listen to my projects again, but it seems to have the same problem that I always had with my old one: When you load a project in DAW, the tracks using Dune don't have sound. If you bring the Dune UI visible, the patch names are gone, only the patch number shows up. The only way to reset it is to unload the Dune plugin completely, then load it to the track again, and find the patch it was using. Fresh new tracks with Dune work perfectly, but the patch settings are forgotten again once the project is closed.
This can be a big hassle especially if you have several tracks using Dune and you always have to manually reassign them all, or when you aren't even using a patch out of the box but have made your own modifications, you'll have lost the tweaks because the plug-in needs to be reloaded!
I used to make a habit of always remembering to name my Dune tracks with the number and name of the patch that it uses so I could find the same ones again whenever I load the project. If I made my own patch, I always saved them. But if you're kinda working on a track and you find yourself making minor changes to a patch as you mix and the thing gradually develops, you won't remember to constantly save a new version of the same patch after every little tweak. There's work to be lost.

Has anyone else had this same problem, and is there a workaround?
This v1.35 is definitely better than no Dune so thank you for this.
But if anyone has it, I would also like to test v1.4 or newer in case they have fixed Dune's patch dementia

It would be helpful if you could also mention your current system along with the DAW you're using. Have you tried browsing through the comments/forums regarding the Dune v1.3 releases here in AZ? Maybe other users have commented/solved this issue in the past.

I'm assuming that you've been experiencing this trouble since you've reinstalled an old version of the Dune and that the problem didn't just occur. If this is an isolated incident, wherein you're the only one who has experienced it so far, I suggest trying to look into your DAW as well. There might be a problem with the DAW not being able to save the current settings of Dune in a track within a project file. Might be helpful to try and look into that just in case it might be on the DAW's end that's messing it up.

Hope you get to solve/fix this problem of yours! Good luck!

Before I posted this, I went through all the previous Dune posts here. I didn't find mentions of that, and most of the posts are about the Windows version. I tried searching elsewhere too. So far, a mystery.

That's correct, this problem existed in the old version I had, too. I doubt that it has anything to do with the DAW or my computer: During this time, I have migrated computers several times so Dune has been carried through three completely different physical computers, three different kinds of DAWs, and I don't even remember how many OS versions that spans over time, but several. I think this strongly suggests that it's the plug-in as it's the one thing that hasn't changed.
