Birocratic, born Brandon Rowan, is a producer and multi-instrumentalist in Brooklyn, NY who creates electronic tunes with an organic soul. Originally trained in piano, Biro eventually taught himself guitar, bass, and drums and began multitrack recording in his garage. His early passion for engineering, combined with his taste for funk and jazz fusion, ultimately led him to explore the underpinnings of hip hop production. Wagane Faye—a prominent keyboardist for many of Dakar’s mbalax and Afrobeat bands—joined us at Laboutique Studios Dakar to record ample MIDI in the styles of mbalax, Afrobeat, dancehall, Afroswing, and Afropop. We then cut those MIDI performances into loops and made corresponding Serum presets for each. These presets focus on the sounds of West Africa. You'll find fula flutes, ngoni, kora, marimba, balafon, kalimba, percussion, plus synths, organs, and bass sounds.

Produced over 40 Years ago in very few numbers, we captured every nuance of this nostalgic and unique multi-timber instrument. It includes 5 full-featured modules including a giant solo monophonic synth, a 3 oscillator polyphonic synth and string machine, a monstrously unique 3 oscillator monophonic bass synth, a 2 timber lush lower organ and an adjustable 9 drawbar style upper organ with an additional 3 timber perk layers.
