Disco was born in the inner city. While it hit mainstream airwaves and came to be loved universally, its sound was shaped by black American musicians like Phyllis Hyman, Diana Ross, and even jazz musicians like Roy Ayers. “Boogie Down” pays tribute to the soulfulness and funky rhythms of retro disco music. Featuring 10 songstarters with accompanying drum loops, this sample pack was created from scratch using real instruments recorded through an SSL 4000E console and plenty of other analog processing. Strings, horns, clavinets, guitars, and more are found in plenty on “Boogie Down”.

ReDominator is an emulation of the classic Hoover Synth, a polyphonic DCO (digitally controlled oscillator) based synth from 1986. The AJ-1/2 became popular in the early 90's techno and rave scene particularly by the classic Hoover sound (which ReDominator emulates accurately). But beyond those niche sounds there lays a versatile synthesizer that does bass, pads, leads, organs and a lot of other sounds waiting to be discovered!

HuluSi is a free-reed wind instrument of China made of bottle gourd. "Hulu" is the Chinese name for bottle gourd; "Si", silk, used here to describe the unrelenting characteristic of HuluSi's vibrating tail tone.

The history of Hulusi is not well documented other than that it may have been used by the ethnic minorities in the nowadays Yunnan (literally means "South of Clouds") province for a very, very long time, maybe as long as a thousand years. Yunnan is famous for its diversity of landscapes and ethnic groups, its culture flavour is rather different from other parts of China.
