As of July 1, 2010 RapidShare's RapidPoints programme will be discontinued. This decision by the company is a reaction to claims that the reward programme rewards the uploading of contents that are protected by copyright.
We feel it is necessary to undertake this step as we do not wish RapidShare's users to be exposed to such an unjustified general suspicion. Our primary objective remains to provide users with a fast, secure and reliable service.

What will the changes mean for our users?
First, nobody will lose any points that have already been accumulated. You can redeem them until July 6, 2010. Please also note that within the next days we will offer you an opportunity to convert a Collector's account into a free Premium account and to transfer your points into this Premium account.
Unfortunately, we must also give up the RapidDonation scheme. An amount of 10,000 Euros was collected for each and every organisation and project that was introduced. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the donors for their contributions!
We are currently exploring how we can continue the donation programme in the future.
Clearly, we would like to continue rewarding customers who recruit new clients. As soon as we have developed a new reward programme, we will of course contact you immediately to provide more details.

same what i will do ! hotfile is my 1.choice for a new acount
i think that dicition would be a death blow for RS !

I wonder if other file download services who offer reward programmes will choose to take the same path that RS has chosen to do. If they do? I feel there will be not much incentive for the uploaders to share with others !!!

I hate Rapidshare i don't really care. I like Sharing Matrix, Megaupload, and Hotfile

But, that's bad for the people [guys/gals whatev] that use rapidshare, anyways it's time to move on to more important matters...

Megaupload & http://rghost.ru/... Fast and Free!

megaupload is great !!
most times i can download with 1.6 mb/s as a free user.
and with the free regristration only 24.sek between the next dl.this is a great deal.
the only problem is that megaupload files are very rare

I've always been an avid fan of rapidshare, and it didn't even bother me when they stopped paying out. For me, they have been the most stable service around, both for free and premium users. But with this development, who in their right mind would put their ass in the line of fire of copyright holders when they don't even grant you free premium accounts for your work? That's just silly. They'll go back to a similar scheme not too far away in the future, mark my words.

i found with downloading location middle of UK NTL

premium accounts:

Rapidshare - great fast reliable always work
hotfile - ok but 3 times slower and sometimes no service for 30mins to 2 hours
megaupload - slow similar service problems

i have a premium hotfile - but wont be renewing its not worth it

I'm just going to use jdownloader and leave my pc on :)

hmm... if that is the case, it is a direct violation against the current site policy which says other users are allowed to post mirrors to any relevant thread. angry

info should be open. this has always been the motto of Audioz. hell, even some indipendent devs who joined in later to protect their own product's "IP rights" have decided to stay registered and now reaping benefits from this great and resourceful community. in the past i have even openly encouraged others to post mirrors in my threads. waiting for SAiNT's word on this situation... feel

For some reason most "Which hoster to use" topics tend to get a bit emotional. It seems everybody makes very different experiences with the different hosters. I'm not sure why. Maybe it depends on where you are located and which provider you're using.

Until now my experience has been the following:

I've been trying nearly all the hosters out there over the last several years. Especially as more and more people were shouting "please no Rapidshare" and more sites were changing to other hosters, besides my Rapidshare account I also bought premium accounts from other hosters like Uploadbox, Hotfile, Uploaded.to, Megaupload, etc.

After thoroughly comparing them all, I must say that Rapidshare is the one I always get full speed with, and using Flashget, Jdownloader or any other download manager has never been a problem.

Uploaded.to reaches a good second place concerning speed - I don't always get full speed in the afternoon - and their uploaded.to-file-downloader isn't stable at all.

For some reason I never seem to get full speed with Hotfile. Although I got a premium account the speed didn't get much better than as a free user. The only advantage is that I can download several files at once.

I also tried many other hosters as a free user, but it's such a pain that I'd always prefer paying a few bucks for a Rapidshare account. Most other hosters never worked that well for me. So I don't know where the advantage is in paying for a hotfile or netload premium account but not for a Rapidshare account. I guess it's a question of luck if the new choice of a default hoster is working well for someone or not.

you can transfer 1000 Premium.Points into 1000 Free.Points
but you must have 1000 to transfer them !

annual price is about the same as 2 month Internet connection.

paying for Internet is weird if you think about it.
paying for moblie text messages or things like that is weird if you think about it.
paying for the army to blow up other countries ...(so share holders can get rich) is weird if you think about it.
I'd rather have free Internet or a free uk icecream day with the money wasted on war.
paying for the local library in tax is weird if you think about it.
paying for (in 10 years) health care for 'sunbed orange skin cancer' victims is weird if you think about it.
queuing behind a self harmer in casualty is weird if you think about it.

torrents are fast but it has to be popular stuff to be fast

rapidshare = film dowloaded in 6 minutes = burnt in 3 = on my tv in 10mins from start to finish

worth 54.99 Euros = 45.87 British pounds a year

Buddy,
+1...the FileFactory is great! Not the cheapest one, but has the best UP&DL speed (to UP a 200MB file via remote server it takes approx. 10 seconds)

I havent read all the threads but warez may get back to being warez and rapidshare users may stop being obnoxious wankers (not all but the majority).Who they gonna demand we put links with next ??? Its obvious...the ones that give the best benefits ......Probably its time to look up what warez is while ya make ya mind up.............. Multi share sites are the obvious but ya dont get paid in any shape or form for that...would be warez tho..... yes

ok there's 2 sides to the debate

people who download (premium or not)

downloading without a premium is pretty tight, because they cost next to nothing
those people always complain and always suggest uploading with some great new site called shite-share.com

downloading is different depending on so many factors
most waiting problems can be solved with a download manager

people who upload.

I understand people who upload want to make a little bit for their effort, that's cool.
if they use awful hosts people will put mirrors
if too many people put mirrors sometimes regular people stop uploading.

a person could buy a sample pack for themselves
upload it here with some basic HTML knowledge (there should be a guide on here)
and make a few dollars back off the price
plus everyone thanks you
