My dear friend Olymoon has passed away on 2024.04.02, after desperately fighting cancer for one year.
despite enormous suffering, he has been with us and helping until his last days.

He's been our moderator for the last 10 years, at some point practically replacing me, while i was going through the hardest period in my life.

Holy Shit this is terrible. I can't count the times Oly helped me over the last 7 years, and he would always get back to you within a few hours, which is incredible when you think of the volume of work he had to handle. Whole new light on it when you think what else he was going through, he was helping me until the last time I requested it back in September for God's sake...with all that he had going on. He's the guy that pushed home the idea of this being a community where people help each other, he really believed it and changed my view of it. Before that I just thought we were all freeloading on the high seas. I wish we had got word of his state a few weeks ago so we could have wished him farewell but I publicly thanked him in one of the appreciation threads a few years ago and I'm so glad I did now, he knew his work was really appreciated. Farewell Oly, a gentleman always, my thoughts are with your family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

I am so sad to hear the passing away of Olymoon, who I often told a Moon ryming joke with , when discretely trying to request something in the comment and spoke to in the PMs about opinions on software. I often enjoyed his replies to users in the Audiosex forum.

May he sleep and rise with the Angels .

My experience with Oly has always been very, very negative. He often acted very dispotic, had zero neutrality... blocked me several times because he wasn't able to have a discussion at eye level... from my point of view it's no loss to have lost him... I hope that there is also room for criticism here without being silenced because you have a different opinion.

I knew him long before he was promoted as a moderator and, back then, he was a close friend to me. But he's changed over time, probably because of the power that his new position as "policeman" on AZ had confered to him.

I was on my way to visit him in Tenerife when we got into an argument over some idiot here whose defense he took against me. Following his deeply disappointing reaction, I cut all ties with him and was banned from AudioZ.

Some months later, I came back under a different nickname... and soon realized that he had changed again, but not for the better.

Even so, I'm sad to hear that he's passed away, because although life can sometimes turn people upside down, nothing can never take away the goodness they had in them in the first place.

And that's the part of him I want to remember today.

RIP, Olivier.

A difference of opinion? What a horrible thing to say when someone just passed away.Time and a place. With your attitude I'm not surprised he blocked you. It definitely won't be a loss to lose you from here or the world. But Olymoon is actually a huge loss to this community. Your comment is just a reflection of your character and says a lot more about you than it does Olymoon.

No way!!! RIP Olymoon, without knowing you personally. You've been part of our lives. Thank you for all your work and dedication to the community. We will miss you—all my condolences. My grandfather died last month and it has been the most painful thing ever. I hope the family has the right support through this tough time.

I’m so very sorry to hear of his loss. I am glad to hear of an end to suffering.

His presence here will surely be missed...

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences SAiNT. Also to his family, friends, and loved ones. And now, when they feel that they alone have the awful task of carrying the weight of his absence forward from one day into the next, there might be some comfort there.

That is, knowing that every name you see here will also be carrying a piece of that absence and, in so doing, might be that little bit less lonely, less burdensome, and less heartbreaking for us all.
