The description here doesn't seem to match that of IMDB (and it's described as a game show!?):
"Beatmakers battle in a head-to-head music-making competition."

I should check this out. I wonder if there is really a NEW sound out.

The Beatles was significantly DIFFERENT at the time. That was pretty much a new kind of music. But I've heard house, they used to call it disco. I've heard rap, which is actually just James Brown. I've heard Metal, which seems to be a rowdy extrapolation of Zep, which was a harder version of the Beatles.

Theres still fine examples of all these things, but it's not every often that there is an absolute SHIFT in what defines music.

This is pretty boring unless you're interested in things like watching a wannabe pop-star ride a bike around Amsterdam and eat pancakes. Low-brow reality TV.

Resident Advisor's Real Scenes series is infinitely better if you're actually interested in music.
