Moby Doc is a surrealist biographical documentary narrated by Moby as he reflects on his turbulent personal life and iconic music from underground punk bands to chart-topping solo artist, and from struggling addict to vegan activist. Featuring interviews with David Lynch and David Bowie, along with extraordinary concert footage, utilizing a unique blend of re-enactments, interviews, and archival footage, audiences will be treated to an insightful, unvarnished look at an artist who has sold more than 20 million albums, an activist who has long championed animal rights, and a man whose traumatic childhood shaped him in profound ways. This introspective journey sets out to answer existential questions of purpose and meaning by examining a life of extreme highs and lows, joy, tragedy, success and failure.

just another washed up techno artist grasping at straws for attention and relevance. his 'wild sex covered in poop' story was a good anecdote though.

Thank you so much for posting this doco, PiRAT! I'm not really a big fan of Moby's music, but I'm a huge fan of his activism and we think alike so much, even had somewhat similar life stories. Not saying there aren't a couple of songs he made I really really like, like "Why does my heart feel so bad?" for example. I love it.

What techno are you talking about, guys? He started with Techno in the very early 90s/end of 80s, pretty much at the same time as myself, because that was very popular at the time, similar to Trap at the end of 2000s. I loved those raving rave parties in the 90s and I performed live with my band and solo, too. It was so much fun... :P anyway, his style changed a lot during 90s and 2000s, same as mine kinda, and there's not much Techno about his music nowadays. We're making more organic sounding music these days.

To all those who like Moby and his activism I can recommend to watch other docos he's featured in like "Endgame 2050" and "Takeout". Both made in 2020. I loved them both to tears. Especially Endgame 2050.

Go vegan. It's the future, it helps the planet to recover from our utterly stupid way of growing/getting food, and it helps us to survive and have a sustainable, great future!

p.s. I actually like his kinda punk album "Animal Rights", and "Play" is completely different. This might be a reason why it's hard to really be a Moby fan, because his style changed drastically throughout years.

Peace and love to everybody, and cheers!

This doco actually made me check several of his albums and I'm really impressed. He makes music from blues to classical, and so emotional, coupled with really emotional lyrics. Maybe check some of his albums before watching this documentary. I recommend "Play" of course, the newer one called "Destroyed", and I find the criticised "Animal Rights" rather good, actually. I think it's been stigmatised because of shitty meat eating people, and especially in 1996 that was too progressive for the time. Kinda like Skinny Puppy. They could have been more popular if they sang about tits, butts, money, and other shallow shit that so many people enjoy to listen to.

Have you ever listened to Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Joy Division, New Order, Depeche Mode, Ministry, David Bowie, Doors, Pink Floyd etc. etc. ? Kinda stuff that mattered a lot at the time and it still matters. If you haven't, I pity your taste in music. A true artist has a broad taste in music and can usually tell shite that's being made purely for profit and masses from great music that actually means something.

Listen to the Moby live from 2000, it's a great way to check his shit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovwdDZlojSk and then tell me how much techno there is. He's also a multi-instrumentalist. Are you?

Have a great day.

My best mate and I went to a gig in Glasgow in the early 90's to a club called The Arena to see Moby live. There were about 40 people there ????
He played his full set with not a care in the world that the place was empty and I couldn't actually believe it was that empty either. At that point he only had his first very techno/hardcore album out "The Story So Far." I paid £8 for the ticket! He's definitely been an influence in my early music making years from the days of Pro12 & Pro 24 ????
Amazing how technology has progressed since those days lol!

You gotta love these "poor little rich kid" documentaries, where they try to tear-jerk viewers into feeling sorry for them. With scenes of them talking about their horrible childhoods, while sitting next to their outdoor pool and cabana.

Joan Rivers also had a documentary in 2010 I think, and it's the same sort of thing. You honestly feel sorry for her, because her career isn't going so great, cuz she's old, can't get gigs, wah. You literally feel so bad for her, you want to open your wallet up, and give her some change. But oh wait, Joan Rivers owned a multi-million dollar penthouse a half-block from Central Park in New York, maybe a couple blocks from billionaires row. And that was just one of her properties. Like wtf.
