Hallo all you happy people. I love the synths , and the synth sounds. The problem is , i am sort of hardware noob.
I bought recently Supernova II from Novation. Apart from looking much sturdier and proffesional than the midi-controller shit overflowing the market nowadays, it has very uniqe sound and bazillions of knobs and potis to tweak ^^ They are all very clearly described, one could learn about the analogue synthesis just from looking at it ^^
I think its factory patches don't sound so good as Access Virus but they are netherless very unique and vibrant. As it is a bit older, it has only midi and audio in/outs.

I have 2 question which come to my mind, but feel free to elaborate on anything.

1. Are there any hardware synths , which has clearly super sound to anything the software can offer? Is there any box out there for which you would give an arm and leg to have it?
(i heard that Waldorf Blofeld is on paar or even surpasses the Access Virus, and i'm considering getting it. is it a good choice?)

2. Which synths has the best DAW integration? Should i always be on the lookout for something with USB?

Cheers

there's a bit of hype about Hardw Synths . No doubt nothing beats the real one with all the knobs just in front of you at the distance of a touch , not limited by a controller (wich button was that LP filter by the way ?) ..... the sound is getting closer and closer between the 3d ones and their screen clones ......still the hrdw it's more instinctive , quicker , inspiring , safer , satisfying ,........ but , can everyone afford the ( essential ) synths they want ?
Besides the hrdw synths , I still have to thank our friends the emulations , the same way most of us would never had the gear to record , produce and exercise creativity if there wasn't for the DAWS and the likes

Btw- i have used stuff live...and yes...there is receptor...for those who talk about having to reboot for lockup. Also...Ive ran 2 computer running the same host / plugs in tandam...so even with the prices of a tower plus a KVM vs. Hardware synths...you still have plenty of money left over to buy a third and then just farm three machines together in a redundant array so that if one fails...two more are there to swing into place. for me personally...nothing can match the containment of using softsynths, eq's, compressors/limiters to not only play my stuff...but to mix each of the live performers to taste....I usually either use some virtual mixer deal like Brainspawn forte or NI Kore. Analog mixers will not be the only thing running live sound...plus paying a drunk 'sound man' to mix for you live may become a thing of the past. But for now...as the keyboard player....i just lug all my shit in and setup with my rackmount tower and clip on LCD screen. Analog is nice but you only use one or 2 sounds....I had a minimoog, moog rogue,poly6,basstation,TG-33,M1,k2500....The software shit is just as good. yeah it does analog at 85%. Thats fine for me and the crowd doesnt even know the difference - at all. Hell - they dont usually know when you make a mistake if you dont frown when you do it!
