Davolisint is a rare Italian keyboard created in 1972. There are two oscillators called VCO1 and VCO2 - but there are no waveform selection, syncing options or envelopes. So, what do we have? Phazor is an effect plugin, which emulates the phaser effect found in the Virus synthesizers, which helped make its characteristic sound. A lot of time was devoted to make it sound very close to the original and every control has been carefully adjusted to behave just like the phaser from the Virus. It has selectable 1 to 6 stage all-pass filters controlled by an LFO, with spread and feedback controls. The plugin is highly optimized and its CPU usage is minimal, allowing for multiple instances to be used in a project.

Turn up the heat with Klevgrand’s rip-roaring guitar amp/cab distortion effect! Guitarampsimulations can turn your clean,weedy-sounding DI guitar into pretty much any guitar sound youwant. They often incorporate multiple amps, miking options and pedalboards and have becomea standard toolkit item. Even so, options, sound and of course price vary considerably fromone plugin to the next, and if you’re a newbie, youmay be cautious about shelling out on features youwon’t use.

Enter this month’s addition to our evergrowing Plugins suite of free instruments and effects: Stark CM. It’s been built exclusively for Computer Music by Swedish developer Klevgrand, home to class creative processors such as DAWCassette, Degrader and more. Stark CM (PC/Mac, VST/VST3/AU) is an algorithmic guitar amp simulator with four modules: Amp, Cabinet, Ambience and FX. It includes two amps (Guitar and Bass), each with clean and overdrive channels, and both preamp and master amp gain controls (Gain and Boost respectively). There are two cab types (Guitar and Bass) with amplifier stereo width, plus a room effect (Ambience). Rounding things off is a pedal effects slot (FX) with 14 effects.
