Elektrik Kalimba is a funky fusion of African and American, designed to sound like the kind of electric piano a Zulu teenager might hotrod up when he'd had enough of tribal rain dances and wanted to get his groove on. It started life as a 3-octave electric kalimba – or mbira, or karimba, or marimba; basically, an African folk thumb piano. Our kalimba was electric from the start, in that it was fitted with a pickup for amplification; but really, it was that row of thumb-plucked tines that set us thinking. Tines; electric pickups; this thing wants to be a Rhodes, right?

Human/synthesis hybrid. Heartbeat K by 9 Soundware is a set of instruments for the Kontakt sampler by Native Instruments. The idea behind the collection is the transformation of recordings of the human heart and other internal organs with the advanced signal processing capabilities of Kontakt.

The instruments are based on 224 samples. They were captured using an electronic stethoscope, which is more sensitive and capable of capturing quieter sounds compared to acoustic stethoscopes.

We have sampled a 55-string Bandura made by the Chernihiv factory in the -1980ties.Playing styles included in the library are: Solo (4 velocity layers, 6 round robin layers) Trio ( 4 velocity layers 2 round robin layers, based upon the same samples as “Solo” with 3 samples per note) FX1-3 (178 sound effects created with the instrument)The tonal range of the instrument is A0-D#5, mapped from A1-D#6 in the keyboard.
