Unlock the Raw, Untamed Tone of a Legendary Vintage Preamp.

Dial in Harmonic Richness
Drive the preamp for rich, musical saturation and analog warmth, adding depth and character to any source.

Drift & Age Control
Deliver rich vintage character by modeling component wear and adding subtle harmonic "innormality," creating depth and organic variation.

Feel the Tone Shift
Sculpt immersive soundscapes with the tactile Lo/Hi-Pass filters, then paint with sonic textures using the Mix knob.

Features

•Rich saturation and musical coloration.
•DRIFT Control: Introduces subtle, organic variations in harmonic overtones
•AGE Control: Adds vintage character by subtly altering harmonics and progressively degrading high-frequency response, replicating the sound of aged components.
•Intuitive Controls for precise tone shaping.
•MIX control for parallel processing.
•AUTOGAIN: Linked Input & Output for effortless dialing
•2x Stack: Engages serial processing, effectively running the signal through two instances of the 280 PRE. This intensifies the plugin's character, creating richer harmonics and more pronounced •saturation.
•2x, 4x, 8x, 16x Oversampling

Thanks to everyone involved in this release! About the product itself, it's nothing great; Analog Obsession has better preamps for free.

first there was analog - every one got used to it and it became the standard. Then there was digital. Got a little headroom and dynamic range, and was crystal clear in fidelity and pretty damned easy to work with once you got the hang of it. Now apparently there's too much clarity - So now some want more distortion (excuse me, "warmth") - like analog.

The only problem with that is "the distortion" applied in the digital domain has not and never will sound like analog because the "warm analog sound" is simply the way analog is natively. Adding "analog like" distortion to a digital signal is generally grating and harsh (it matters not what what the source is) because digitally that distortion just get's reproduced like everything else (synths, samplers, vst plugin, etc...) - with the utmost clarity and headroom. THAT'S NOT WARMTH. That's just noise added to a an already clean signal being reproduced with the same clarity as the "content".

This is why I am always amused at the literal TON of these things (that aren't cheap by the way) being thrown at a completely gomer-ish and gullible audio public as being the be-all end-all of "analog audio goodness" ... If you want analog, REAL ANALOG, then you need to use actual analog gear to get that sound. You're not going to get it from a plugin. This one here is no different.

"because the "warm analog sound" is simply the way analog is natively" - great reasoning, glad you typed all that out.

All i'm saying is that none of these things I have ever tried have actually made digital audio sound analog in any way shape or color. They add noise (aka "harmonics") but it doesn't sound "analog".

What about Acustica? They are highly ultra super praised on audio forums.
Come here just to try the software and buy it afterwards.
If I don't like the software I will just DELETE it.

This can a gem for some but it's not my cup of tea because it alters the sound too much in a very obvious way. You can do the same thing this thing does with a normal neve style preamp and a tape plugin and get more musical and less obvious results IMO. And i think i sounds kinda flat and artificially inflated, it's not what i expect from analog gear.
