MAC & WiN - 84,28 GB + 100,88 GB
More legends, more control, more freedom
Syntronik 2 sets the new standard in modern virtual synthesizers. IK’s advanced sampling techniques, combined with a hybrid sample and modeling synthesis engine, power a comprehensive collection of rare and sought-after synths with stunning sonic accuracy and the deepest editing.

This is a massive update to the previous release, adding 11 new synths, exciting new, advanced, and much-requested functionality, and a huge number of all-new presets for the 22 original synths taking advantage of all these new features.

The developer also updated some of the sounds for Syntronik 1.

We recommend reinstalling all sounds to avoid software errors.

We have divided all content into 2 parts - it takes less hard disk space to unpack and install all content.

Each zip contains an installer application (macOS and Windows).

This is not emulation like Arturia or Roland Cloud, but a sampled thing, more like a Kontakt library. If you look at the number of hardware they use, it's not that big. When it's about sampled instruments, the bigger the better, cause that mean more nuances.

Here you get the "real" sound of the hardware, with a little less sound design possibility, it's not necessary better than Arturia, but just another way to approach that kind of produt, kind of like Accustica Audio with their analog recreation using impulse response vs. "traditional" emulation of hardware that digitaly simulate every electronic part to get as close as possible to the original hardware.

I've been using previous version of Syntronik for quite some time already. I think it sounded better than most of the emulation VST (of the synth it samples) out there if you remove all the FX processing that comes with presets and only use the main sampled sound and do your own FX processing with other VSTs. Simply because it is properly sampled and it is real hardware synth sound.

Most of time it sounds fuller compared to synth emulation VST without ever needing to layer the sound to make it thicker. It is efficient in the terms of CPU usage but in trade of the hard disk space. Since it is a sample based instrument, the tweaking possibility also limited, the presets that comes with it are good enough, they even sampled the oscillator and their combination (for hard sync sound), that can be a good starting point to build your own patch. 90% of the presets that comes with it sounds like the best preset on u-He Diva but only use 1-2% of my CPU power when Diva wants 40% (CPU meters in Ableton Live)

I keep the sound content in a NAS (that isn't SSD) and never had any problem ever streaming it through the gigabit network.
It makes no sense to say you’re not good at it. It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a monk.” You are either living as a monk or you’re not.

So there are no sound sources besides samples? I was under the impression that Syntronik mixed samples with waveforms in a similar manner to Omnisphere...
I was drunk when I wrote this

You have a NAS to stream your sample libraries (kontakt, syntronik etc) ? It must take a very long time to load the patches ?

Almost instantly with a SSD NAS RAID5 and 10Gb/s network so you'll get ~1,000 MB/s transferrates. You must configure network cards for low latency for small files though.
SSDs are perfectly for a Sample collection system because it behaves like a WORM (WriteOnceReadMany). You can even choose quite inexpensive SSDs because you won't reach TBW this way (normally you write e.g. your Kontakt Libs to disk once and almost never change them much therefore there is almost no SSD wear plus no mechanical wear)

quote by OctaMEDiumwhether the SSDs then survive for long is another question.

Since it's only being read, the SSD will last as long as it should do when it is not being constantly deleted and written to!
I think you misunderstand how SSDs work.
I have all my IK libraries on an external spinning drive and it's fine.
And IK have been doing this since the mid 00s I think, it's not new.
Their DRIFT is slightly newer I guess, but still relatively old.
What I'm saying is we've all known about this for years, but it seems new to you.
quote by OctaMEDiumThey talk about multi-sampled oszilators emulating real analog circuits - but samples are not analog oszilators nor an emulation in Software (by programming). Is this just a marketing trick? seriously.

No marketing trick.
Correct, samples are not an analogue oscillator, but the samples were sampled from an analogue oscillator. Or maybe a DCO if it's a Juno 106. They may then regulate some of that tuning in the edit, in order to apply some realtime code and algo to a virtual oscillator thereby adding back this realism in a way that can be regulated.
Obviously non-sample based clones of synths have tackled this already, but this is more rare with Kontakt versions of synths or sample based synths generally.
Warmup drift etc is much needed when emulating an analogue synth, regardless of if sample based or not.
In fact, when emulating any Oberheim, which have 2 separate SEMs for each voice!, this really cannot be ignored if one wants to clone it well and at least make it sound vaguely authentic!

I downloaded, unzipped, then repacked how I prefer things, thinking I'm all done.. then I realize I've only downloaded one half of this thing.. "Part synth". Still have the other major part to go! lol

Anyways, thanks for this, Talula.

I have the old Syntronik and it is great - full of nice presets, etc.
40 Gig in size for Main Content, Deluxe and Bonus content.

At 180 Gig this produces fine nuances that simply can't be HAD in only 40 Gig.
But for those over 50 years old... those fine nuances simply can't be HEARD in any amount of Gig

I happen to be a bit low on disk space these days, but I will download anyway :) Hopefully the Windows version will appear, so replacing the old Syntronik makes it not such a large an investment in disk space.
Need to look into it - It has extra instruments, too.

Reminder: Render to audio any tracks / projects that use the old Syntronik before removing it!

I'm new to this thing.. so us Windows users can't use any of this right now? I.e. this is just content, and we need a cracked Synthronik 2 player (or whatever its called) VST?

edit: NM.. I see it in the post text now that we need to wait for software release. damn.

But every other IK library has always been backwards readable...
And Syntronik 1 and Syntronik 2 have different names and are different software, so they can coexist.
No need to remove it!

Before downloading the entire pack:

For instance Synth 1 contains two packs of Synth 99:
Synth - 99 Part 1
Synth - 99 Part 2

Then Synth 2 contains another two packs:
Synth 2 - 99
Synth 2 - 99 Update

When installing later, do I need to install both packs of Synth 1 AND Synth 2 to successfully use 99? So the split was only to "reduce unpacking time" and requires to download all packs despite?
Is the Synth 2 content the updated Syntronik 2 content and Synth 1 the updated previous content of Syntronik 1?

I've never used Syntronik 1 so far and the structure of this content is quite confusing.

if you open content folder (inside each zip) you will see that files in all zips are different. files can be in the same folders, but they are different.

I got everything installed and added to the Syntronik 2 download from the other post, and the standalone works perfectly, but only the AU is recognized as a plugin and it won't load in Reaper or any other DAW, I just get an error message saying it can't load, and I don't see any VST or VST3 files... Did I miss a patched file or something? Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks for everything you do, much appreciated.

edit: in case anyone else has this problem, I'm on an M1 Mac, and I did the install for M1 and couldn't get the AU to load in any DAWs, but I redid the installation with the intel version and now the AU works.

If it ain't loud? I don't wanna hear it!

same, have you figured out a fix to this? Theres no install instructions. Are we suppose to put all the files back together into 1 folder. Im not sure what to do.
Opinions are like mixtapes, i dont want to hear yours.

To avoid doing the sudo chmod -R 777 on all installers, is it the same if I install manually the content using copy and paste then fusion ? thx

I will stick with the UVI Vintage Vault which I believe is in a different league but thanks anyway.
