I've seen chatter on another forum about a watermark in this library that ties it to the purchaser's serial number. Does anyone know how these watermarks manifest themselves? If they are inaudible but visible under spectrum analysis couldn't they just as easily be filtered out? Couldn't they be basically defeated with some processing? (distortion, reverb, etc)

I wouldn't be using a release like this on a commercial release anyway, but I am very curious about the concept of audio watermarking.

That's not of any concern to you. Watermarking only concerns the supplier of the library because, as you said, it's tied to the serial number of the purchaser. This is done so the maker of the library can track down which purchaser supplied or spread it into the open. At that point they can either pursue him legally or just cut him off from the goods he spread.

There are some stories about watermarking inside the audio but there hasn't been any hard evidence for this as far as I know. Mostly because, as you said, it's rather easy to get rid of possible audio watermarking by processing the sample. Hypothetically, if an audio sample would be watermarked and subsequently been twisted and mangled enough within usage, it would be impossible to recognize this mark completely because of it.

So let's just hope the cracker and/or supplier were able to track down any watermarks within the library (not the audio) and somebody got rid of it so it won't lead back to them. Usually they do this by cross referencing two copies of the same software or library and checking the differences because only the watermark should be different for the copies. Just enjoy trying this library and always remember to support the developer if you actually end up using it seriously!

oddly, the last 2 Lib's I added place a sc3.tmp file on the desktop and then dissapear from the Library Tab as soon as I restart Kontakt. If I rename the sc3.tmp file to whatever lib name it is .xml, and place it in the Service Center folder, the lib stays put. Must be something between El Capitan and Kontakt k'ed. Anyone else see this?

Yes, have seen that many, many times. Don't know what causes it, but the very same solution you've mentioned was talked about here a few years back and still seems to work.

'Sample watermarking' has existed since the '90s, if not before. I had Akai S1000 libraries with that warning printed on them. But I happened to know one of the businesses that printed those warnings and... it was 100% scare tactic. I suspect that's what created the topic now. Even today, I'm trying to imagine how a business could render each individual sale with unique watermarked samples while making the product available for instant download after purchase. It doesn't compute.

There's no activation file. Libraries like this require K'd/unlocked Kontakt (like R2R Kontakt).

thanks for the reply but aah crap im not sacrificing my full version kontakt for a torrented one. i want it badly though, ill just have to hurry up and right the midi to audio when im done with that particular sequence lol

Same problem for me too... i don't know why; i have the .ncinc, i tried with standalone version, nothing too... i have V5.5.1 (R2R) it seems to be the latest version..

IF SOMEONE knows the solution please PM or tag.
