Music I'm Listening screenshot
Since I don't have much time to share new music releases, and there's not much to share these days anyway, I figured I'll start a topic with single tracks.

Expect any genres.

UPD: it's been a while... not so much good music lately, but still have a few tracks to share.

Thank you SAiNT wink

I forget a few like The The, The Orb, Future Sounds of London, KLF, 808 State, Harold Budd (his work with Eno), and of course Wire.

Byrne/Eno's Life in the Bush of Ghosts .....

If you want to go much further back, it's interesting to compare Vangelis' L'Apocalypse des animaux with some of Eno's ambient works. The Vangelis soundtrack was written in 1970.

Feridan
Cataly5t,

Rother also went on to other great things (Cluster and Harmonia), Dinger was an interesting cat as well (La Dseldorf)

In a way it wasn't a split, the band was actually still forming. People came and went. I think their Plank phase was best.

Lots of pioneers get overlooked. Conrad Schnitzler. Dieter Moebius. Klaus Wiese. Thomas Fricke (Fricke was the second person in Germany to own a modular Moog (it's 1969). I think he got the one Lennon wanted to buy for the Beatles; the other one was Eberhard Schoener).

But we'e getting side-tracked. Bands from the 80s

My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, Jesus & Mary Chain, A Certain Ratio, Smiths, Joy Division, New Order, Einstrzende Neubauten, Front 242, Cassandra Complex, DAF, Suicide, Durutti Column, Spacemen 3, The Fall, Teenage Fanclub, Verve, Ride, Swervedriver, Coil, Zoviet France, Test Dept., early Laibach, Seefeel, Lush, Slowdive, Anne Clark, Happy Mondays, Material, early Swans, Sonic Youth, Bauhaus, Boo Radleys, Galaxy 500, Curve, Gary Numan ..........................

@ everyone

If you want to find new material just go through the Factory, Creation, 4AD catalogs. Or try to find playlists from The John Peel show during the 80s, 90s or any time. You'll find lots of good stuff in them.

Absolutely Feridan. You have great taste and that's a real rarity these days. I really like Klaus Schulze, a pioneer that is often forgotten, particularly the Timewind album. We're talking 70s here and the songs are a journey with tracks clocking in at like 30+ minutes a song.

Besides all the bands you mentioned I'm also into The Art of Noise, Black Tape For A Blue Girl (actually met the band), Cabaret Voltaire, The Chameleons, The Church, Clan of Xymox, The Clash, Clock DVA, Controlled Bleeding (Experimental but have some really great songs), Covenant, The Cure, Dead Can Dance, Dif Juz, Echo & The Bunnymen, Gene Loves Jezebel, Generation X, The House of Love, Killing Joke, KMFDM, Love And Rockets (all Bauhaus members sans Peter Murphy), Love Spirals Downwards, Lycia, The Neon Judgement (Chinese Black headbang ), Portion Control, The Sisters of Mercy, Skinny Puppy, The Stone Roses, The Wolfgang Press, This Mortal Coil, Warsaw (early Joy Division)....................

All brilliant electronic bands that have impressive back catalogs. A member of KLF (Jimmy Cauty) actually formed The Orb with Dr. Alex Paterson (they don't call him Dr. for nothing). Since then Paterson has had members come and go. FSOL is great too as well as The Grid, The Irresistible Force, Meat Beat Manifesto, Omicron, Orbital, System 7, William Orbit, etc.

Feridan, Cataly5t, i like to watch how you guys talking about music... mates i miss these talks in real life.

Thanks SAiNT. mates
Honestly, I miss these talks too. When I meet someone that can keep up I practically shit myself out of excitement. It's like not being able to communicate with people and then suddenly you can just have an open dialogue with someone that speaks your language. It shows me that culture still isn't dead whichm considering all the drivel being pumped out these days, is very refreshing to remember. And mate don't worry, we'll continue to have these conversations. We're not going anywhere. no
Who knows maybe one day we can do it in person. Anything is possible.

Everyone
You're just finding out about Groove Armada now but they've been around since the late 90s. yes Where have you guys been all this time? In my opinion people have become uber lazy with expanding their musical horizons. Don't wait for someone to introduce you to great music. Everything I know about music I learned on my own before there was even such a thing as the internet or mp3s. Take some responsibility for your musical collections and take back culture. In this day and age there are so many bands out there it's literally a world just waiting to be explored. So get out there and start listening. phones

Well unless you're the busiest person on the planet I don't see why it doesn't. I wasn't trying to insult anyone I was simply hoping to challenge people to take control of their music and not expect someone to just hook them up with their next favorite band. The wording was chosen purposefully because it is likely to work on a subconscious level making people more aware even if they initially might feel I am being pompous. It wasn't a where have you guys been? angry but rather a where have you guys been?...come on in the water's fine. mates I keep reminding people that the internet is cold communication and without intonation it's awfully easy to get confused about the intent of a statement. Believe me, if you knew me in real life you really wouldn't feel that way. I've always thought that the difference between people is the difference in their standards more than it is in their capabilities. Like with everything these days, people are stagnant and if they can find a way to not put in any effort they'll do just that. In the end culture as a whole will suffer for it. I'm honestly sick to death of hearing the prevalence of utter garbage in popular culture at the moment and it's more than obvious that we have a serious problem. If people keep buying it then they'll keep making it. Culture will always flow freely for those willing to only put in the effort to seek it out. What else could possibly be the reason? With technology such as the internet and mp3s at your feet I just can't imagine another scenario. Groove Armada isn't exactly an obscure band. If you feel that makes me narrow-minded then you can go on thinking that. I don't waste my time with consuming thoughts of what other people might think. no

If you did I'm sure it would rock. headbang
Don't feel bad though since we still have AudioZ and AudioSex and those communities are amazing. Running even one of the aforementioned is a full-time job and we are all really grateful and appreciative of what you're already doing. mates

Everyone
And straight from the soundtrack of my last excruciatingly painful torture...I mean break-up here's Groove Armada - Shameless (Featuring Bryan Ferry). I have no doubt that you will enjoy it very much and if you get a chance you should really pick up Black Light as the album is genius. Some members might even recognize Bryan Ferry from the band Roxy Music. wink

Sorry that I couldn't find the video on YouTube (only audio) as for some reason it's not available there.

Shameless
I can read your lips
I can read your mind,
It's all I want to hear,
Why am I so blind?

And the way we were
Fatefully entwined
In a shameless world,
Rock 'n roll desire

All the things you are
In a single word
Famously inspired
Privately absurd

And the way we were
Fatefully entwined
In a shameless world,
Rock 'n roll desire

And the days go by
Morning noon and night,
Permanently wired
To the simple life,

And the way we were
Fatefully entwined
In a shameless world,
Rock 'n roll desire

Rock 'n roll desire

love how Clint Mansell has re-invented himself as a serious film & TV
composer. A mate of mine used to do the DJ warm up's for PWEI back in the 1990's and it's strange to think it's the same guy!

I laugh hard... I saw this avatar for Copy on Audiosex, and could not tell it was an old lady, since it was so small... it looked like a younger person with black hair and I actually thought it might have been an actual picture of Copy at the decks... guess not!!

So funny noone here mentioned Depeche Mode so far! I guess most of you love them! So some things never changes..It's still as uncool to be a Depeche Mode fan like it was in the 80ies! But nearly everybody owns at least one album of them! :)
