Do we have a changelog?

Regarding editing the host file: you probably should open notepad as an administrator. (right click on the notepad.exe file and choose 'open as administrator'. Otherwise you may not be able to save the file.

@ orgcha :

This is correct but you won't be able to save it in situ so simply because ( fortunately ) some AVs and FWs lock the hosts file.

Deactivating ( or bypassing ) the FW is not enough : we must nuke it, by killing the service, or running a specific ( per FW ) command line.

Then we reboot. And don't take too much time : for some seconds we're vulnerable ( if we're online, of course ).

Zone Alarm (seems to be the antivirus best suited for scene-releases) let´s you "lock/unlock" Host file in advanced setting.

So, untick "lock hostfile". Copy the hostfile to desktop. Open it with NotePad. Make your changes/edits. Save. Copy back and overwrite the original hostfile (I usually also make a backup of my edited hostfile and keep it in documents if some program or antivirus should clear it or change it).

Go back to Zone Alarm and re-tick "lock hostfile".
