Installation
Do not change the installation path of Cubase
1. Install Steinberg Library Manager 3.2.20.exe
2. Install Steinberg Activation Manager 1.3.1.exe
3. Run the Setup.exe file in the Cubase Pro 12.0.40 folder and install Cubase
4. Run "Activation Manager Unlocker b3.exe" and then restart the PC


Release Notes
The Cubase 12.0.40 maintenance update is now available. With this update, we are introducing some new functions and scripts to the MIDI Remote integration, we are resolving some issues with ARA extensions, and we are fixing more than thirty issues in various areas of the application. Please find all details below.

MIDI Remote
We have improved the script for the Arturia KeyLab Essential and added missing Key Commands.
We have added more Control Room functions to the MIDI Remote feature scope.
Fixed project mappings can now be converted to global mappings as expected.
Using the MIDI Remote Editor in the Lower Zone with Workspaces now works as expected.
We have added a new MIDI Remote factory script for the Novation Launchkey MK3 88.

ARA
We have fixed an issue related to using the Make Extension Permanent function on non-PCM clips with ARA extensions.
Events with Melodyne ARA extensions can now be cut without losing the note data.
Events with ARA extensions can now be copied and duplicated as expected.

Plug-ins
We have improved the user interface of the VST Bass Amp plug-in when Quick Control buttons are toggled.
The Frequency 2 plug-in now works as expected when using 7.1.4 channel configurations.
Writing automation of the Frequency plug-in Band On/Off parameter now works as expected.
We improved the loading process of external impulse response files for the Reverence plug-in when loading projects on a different computer.
We corrected the Peak and RMS needle of the SuperVision plug-in.
We have improved the quality of the FX Modulator plug-in when using fast volume modulation settings.
The Quick-Link function of the MixConsole is now also available for the input and output parameters of the Squasher plug-in.

Sample Editor
Event start/end and snap point handles are now displayed as expected.
Warp markers are now editable at all zoom settings.
Stretching VariAudio segments in a multi-event selection now works as expected.

User interface
The grid is no longer cut off when scrolling through the project in low dpi mode.
The waveform in silent areas is no longer displayed with 2 pixels instead of one.
The audio waveform interpolation in the Lower Zone Sample Editor is now consistent.

Miscellaneous
When duplicating a Track Version, bézier curves are now correctly applied.
Applying Audio Alignment now works correctly when multiple references are selected.
The warp algorithm custom settings dialog can now be opened from the Info Line in all language localizations.
We have fixed an issue related to editing parameters in the List Editor.
The Logical Editor window now opens exclusively.
The Click Patterns in the Pattern Editor are no longer cut off when using 1/32 patterns.
We have corrected the Loudness measuring of the Master meter and the SuperVision plug-in for 7.x channel configurations to match the ITU-BS.1770-4 specification.
The preference Mute Pre-Send when Mute is now saved as expected.
On the Nuage Master unit, the numeric keypad arrows now work for locating markers.
Vertical mouse wheel scrolling in the Score Editor edit mode now works as expected.
We have improved the usability with editing lines in the Score Editor.
Vertical scrolling speed in VariAudio editor now works consistently.
On macOS systems, the application now shows in which code architecture it is running in the Start and About screens.

Stability
We have improved stability in the following use cases:
When aborting an Export Audio Mixdown.
When using the Adjust Fades to Range function.
When changing the Sample Editor zoom mode with Select Events Under Cursor active.
When using the function Adjust Fades to Range.
When using the Scale Assistant with VariAudio.
When changing the AmbiDecoder output mode from Headphones to Speakers.
When dragging a MIDI loop from the MediaRack to the project.

You can download the update from Steinberg and use it with R2R's Silk e-mu from 12.0.30 release. No need to wait for new release. Probably. I have to check that one out, but I'm pretty sure it works.

Silk Emulator is not the problem. You need the proper R2R release (installer) to make it work.

I had 12.0.10 R2R and since then, have installed 12.0.20, 12.0.30 and now 12.0.40 using the Steinberg Download Assistant and always worked without any licensing issues or errors. Just need to make sure the correct file it in place. Look up previous releases,and I put location of file in there. Can't remember where it is ATM and not at home.

Yes, he's correct. Download all updates from Steinberg. Then go to:
Program Files/Common Files/Steinberg/Team R2R/license-engine-access. dll

Copy this file then paste it in:

Program Files/Common Files/Steinberg/Activation Manager.

If you have R2R Silk Emulator installed (and you haven't installed any of the above files into different locations) then it will work with every Steinberg update so far.

*You need to copy/paste this file EVERY time you update Cubase/Nuendo/Wavelab*

So, the only difference between R2R installers and the official ones, is the location of the "license-engine-access.dll" file.

They are right it works, after installation overwrite "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\TEAM R2R\license-engine-access.dll" to "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\Activation Manager\license-engine-access.dll"

It does work. I just updated Cubase and Nuendo. I always use this method as it's faster to download straight from Steinberg and if you have the R2R Silk Emulator installed, it's insane not to use it.

It is working,at least Nuendo , i have tested with latest R2R Silk emu. No need for anything else just to update and you are good to go. @Articstorm No need for SDA, download from support page on Steinberg site. No license error, everything is just fine.

Win11 - My system is pure gold with respect to setup - I think any that know me or seen my writings online would accept as much to be true, and it is. I am getting .NET Runtime errors when running Nuendo and Cube setups that happen about halfway as it is unpacking. In version 4 .NET, it is happening. I will say more if I ever know more. Rock on. Might just be my machine but this is doubtful. I don't experience any sorts of errors in all I do, otherwise. :)

Of course, official setups are not even needed to run, but hey if this is afffecting others negatively and I eventually have something to say, I will. :)

By the way, Steinberg .exe always have digicert stuff at end of the binary. You can always delete it all with a hex editor (usually around 10 to 12 KB), directly where the padding or 00 00 end after </assembly> and the digicert block (security) begins. :) Yes, all of their .exe even the license ones, etc...

Ok, I return now. (haha) Nothing new to say about my .NET issue (I might have inadvertently caused it when trying to fix Syntronik 2 and talking about it on here. Maybe!) It is a benefit of using intelligence I guess. heh

I installed Nuendo 12.0.40 all by hand instead and it is rockin' with the custom R2R setup, as is. I suspect the same for Cube. Rock on all.

If you have custom graphics or whatnot like that, backup your Cube and Nuendo folders before installing, so you can compare and/or replace after.

I can verify as well that both Cubase and Nuendo updates work fine with current R2R Silk emu. You just need to re-copy and paste the R2R .dll into the Steinberg Activation folder.

Glad to hear that, but my downloaded installer from Steinberg refuses to start installing without Activation Manager. ( Latest silk, Nuendo 12.0.20 already successfully installed, but not removed yet.)
Wondering what you guys did different .
