Great reincarnation of a classic! Keep an eye on Nils' website for upcoming K4v. That one will have a filter, 2 envelopes, and more waveforms, just like the original. I can't wait to try that one, too!

I know! I've been keeping my fingers crossed that he gets the K4 out soon -- I've been hoping for a decent K4 emulation for years now (the closest I've ever seen are some sample packs that just don't cut it)! It would save me about $300 in not having to buy a replacement hardware version!

On Mac, VST3 does not show in Ableton or Reaper.
VST works fine so far.

you could write the dev a mail and report the problem?

It looks like it's already been reported on the dev's KVR forum.

I've discovered it two weeks ago, it's an excellent recreation of K1 (based on samples, however), Nils he's working on K4...

Negative -- the only samples involved are the sampled 8-bit PCMs from the original hardware ROMs. He actually emulated the hardware processors, filters and circuits, meaning it pretty much is a total recreation of a K1 in software form.

Thanks for your precisions and I agree. Sorry for my error.

with that size you cant have a recreation based on samples.

This is aiming at a true recreation in virtual form. Which is awsome.

Samples are 8-bit from ROMs (as explained by Iggy above). It's an excellent instrument.

Sounds pretty good on the Mac (tested AU, haven't messed with VST), and I love the GUI. I can't remember if the K1 had an effects section or not, as I never owned one, but this version is definitely dry. I know the K4 has one, and I'm hoping he bakes that in to the K4 emulation, as the FX were definitely part of the sounds. Regardless, he did this for free as a labor of love and it turned out spectacularly. I'm hoping Kawai ends up snarfing up his work and paying him a huge bundle for his efforts.

OMG! I used to play one of these at music college in 1989-1992! Quirky as hell and great fun! Oh the memories, thanks for this ????

The K1 had no onboard effects. There was a follow up product K1 ii from Kawai with some basic reverb effects.

But hey.. every Freeware DAW has good effects.. the K1 VST ist great. My first syntheziser together with a Roland D110.
