For macOS users doing the update only:
1. copy the Lumina folder (don't drag) and paste it into /Users/Shared (or wherever your Kontakt libraries are located) then click Merge.
2. copy the Native Instruments folder (again, don't drag) and paste it into /Library/Application Support (in Finder, use the Go menu and hold option, then go to /Library/Application Support). Again, click Merge.

Now load Lumina in Kontakt and click the cog wheel at the very bottom left corner of the instrument, you will see on the bottom right corner the version is now 2.0

Doing the update...using Kontakt Portable:

A couple of questions regarding the folders / naming / locations:
In the the "Native Instruments" folder, there are 2 folders:
"Service Center" & "Lumina"

1)
I assumed the "Service Center" goes in "...\Program Files\Common Files\" because that is where the "Service Center" folder is , containing all the other instrument the .xml files I have.
(Most or all of those .xml files were provided by R2R for some other install- i can't recall which).

So, is that where the Service Center folder goes?

The only other "Service Center" folder I have is in my Kontakt Portable "...\User Data\Service Center\" folder, but that contains no other instrument .XML files.
But that contains NO INSTRUMENT .XML FILES.
It only contains 2 files:
"LibraryHints.xml" & "pal.db" (NO INSTRUMENT .XML FILES).

2)
It SEEMS that (using Kontakt Portable) :
the folders from inside of "Lumina\PAresources\" folder should go into:
"<Kontakt Portable Folder>\UserData\NI Resources\"

(I find no other "PAresources" folder associated with Native Instruments or Kontakt libraries so far... Perhaps with installed Kontakt version that is the naming?)

In answer to your question: I use Portable too.
I doubted that Portable would care about any files in Service Center, and I appear to be right.
I temporarily renamed my /Common Files/Native Instruments folder to make it invisible to Portable, and Lumina worked just fine anyway.
So most likely, PAresources etc are not necessary at all.
When I move a library from one Portable to another (I have several, for differetn types of music), I simply move the library or open it in the other Portable and it works fine.
Only Snapshots (and very occasionally graphics) can sometimes be a problem.

The "Update ONLY" patch is missing the 2.0 specific resource file :
Symphobia 3 Lumina 2022.nkr

Besides, you need the 1.6 version to update. If you try to update from an older version, some samples files from previous updates will be missing on instruments loadings.
